Rules

The 2016 Topcoder Open First2Finish Competition (“F2F Competition”) will take place between August 10, 2015 and May 31, 2016. The F2F Competition will take place in four (4) online stages (each a “Stage” and collectively, the “F2F Competition Stage”). The F2F Competition will include the following tracks of competition: Code F2F and UI F2F.

The F2F Competition will consist of online qualifying competitions; the top performer of each stage will win a prize and up to two (2) of the highest scoring Contestants from each of the online stages will win a trip to compete in the TCO16 Finals in Washington DC November 18-21, 2016.

Not all F2F competitions on the Topcoder website are Tournament-eligible and Topcoder shall determine at its sole discretion which F2F Competitions are Tournament-eligible.

The F2F Competition is part of the Tournament, and by participating in the F2F Competition, you agree to the rules on this web page as well as the Tournament rules and the topcoder Terms of Use (collectively, the “Rules”).

Topcoder reserves the right to add or remove competition tracks as needed. Competition periods and prizes may be changed at any time at Topcoder’s sole discretion.

UPDATED INFORMATION:
Contestants are only eligible to win one trip to the onsite event(s) through the F2F Competition and if a Contestant who wins a trip to the onsite Tournament pursuant to the F2F Competition has already won a trip to the onsite Tournament, the next highest scoring Contestant will win the trip.

Contestants are eligible to win only one trip to the onsite Tournament regardless of the track they compete in. However, Contestants with more than one win across different tracks will receive $1,000 for each extra trip won.

If a Contestant wins more than one stage as the top performer, that Contestant will win the first place prize amount for each stage they win.

During each Stage, Contestants who participate in Tournament-eligible F2F Competitions on the topcoder website will receive points for that Stage as outlined in these Rules. Only Tournament-eligible F2F Competitions in which registration has opened during the four (4) Stages shall be included in determining points for that Stage.

F2F Online Competition Dates
Stage 1 August 10, 2015 - September 30, 2015
Stage 2 October 01, 2015 - November 30, 2015
Stage 3 December 01, 2015 - February 29, 2016

Scoring in the F2F Competition is determined based on the final ranking for a Contestant’s submission in a Tournament-eligible F2F Competition (as applicable) in accordance with the rules of such competition.

(Scores will be rounded to two decimal places.)

Upon the completion of all Tournament-eligible F2F Competitions, the individual scores that a Contestant receives during all Stages will be added for a cumulative score.

# of Submissions that Pass Review:

Place 1 2 3 4 5
1st 100% 70% 65% 60% 56%
2nd 30% 25% 22% 20%

If more than five (5) submissions pass review, the competitors who place in 6th position or below will not receive any placement points.

All final fixes will be completed according to the schedule specified for the applicable F2F Competition. On a case-by-case basis, as determined by topcoder personnel, placement points may be deducted for failing to complete final fixes on time.
